She was about to give up on him.
He was ten minutes late, and this would make him guy number two who had stood her up after meeting her on match.com. He arrived just as she thought about getting the waiter's attention to get the check for her glass of wine.
He was, to her relief, as advertised on his ad: his brown hair was starting to grey at the temples, but it was well combed and neatly trimmed in a slightly boyish way that gave more validity to the naive lightness of his blue eyes that made her consider giving him the benefit of the doubt.
"I'm so sorry." He extended his hand. "I'm Brian, and you are most definitely Deanna."
